A Typical Day

The visit begins with a highly interactive, illustrated talk using appropriate original brass rubbings taken from churches and cathedrals throughout England. The talk and the examples are of course designed to illustrate the historical period the children are studying. The children are then divided up into convenient groups, often by class, and are allowed to create their own brass rubbings using the facsimiles and materials provided by us.

Our visit can be designed to complement the historical topics the children are studying. We can, for instance, illuminate 'Life in Tudor Times', 'Medieval Realms', 'Victorian Britain', 'Castles and Cathedrals', or more specific subjects like 'Knights and Armour' or 'Signs and Symbols'' - the choice is yours. We can cater for up to 150 children in a day and, of course, governors, parents and other visitors are always most welcome to attend.

We also have some great curriculum based work sheets, for example:

  • Medieval and Tudor work sheet
  • Victorians work sheet
  • How much do you know?
