A typical visit
The visit begins with a highly interactive, illustrated talk using appropriate original brass rubbings taken from churches and cathedrals throughout England. The talk and the examples are of course designed to illustrate the historical period the children are studying. The children are then divided up into convenient groups, often by class, and are allowed to create their own brass rubbings using the facsimiles and materials provided by us.
Tailored to illustrate particular curriculum topic, talks illuminate 'Life in Tudor Times', 'Medieval Realms', 'Victorian Britain', 'Castles and Cathedrals', or more specific subjects like 'Knights and Armour' or 'Signs and Symbols'' - the choice is yours. 'History in brass' can also be incorporated very effectively in an Arts or History week. We can cater for up to 150 children in a day and, of course, governors, parents and other visitors are always most welcome to attend.
